Trail of Cthulhu RPG System - Alternative to Call of Cthulhu

July 26th, 2008 by Komori

I recently picked up Kenneth Hite’s Trail of Cthulhu Role-Playing Game. This game uses the GUMSHOE system rather than the Basic Roleplaying system used in Chaosium’s venerable Call of Cthulhu RPG. GUMSHOE uses a point spend system that allows players to “buy a hint” to help move the game forward, avoiding the problem of a missed clue as a result of a die roll. Read the rest of this entry »

River Town: The Coracle Maker

July 12th, 2008 by chikako

The Coracle MakerDay to day, most River Folk use small coracles to move around a River Town, keeping the guild of Coracle Makers extremely busy with orders for new coracles and repairs (though most River Folk are able to do simple repairs themselves) This shop on the water includes two rooms - one a simple storage room where the maker’s apprentice also happens to sleep, and the other a formal work room. Some small comforts are here, including a stove for not only heating the natural saps and tars used in coracle building, but also for meals of the master and apprentice. Double doors lead to a landing, where new coracles are available for sale. A part of River Town Volume 1. Read the rest of this entry »
