Learning 3D Studio MAX:Selecting Objects
Recently I made the decision to learn my way around 3D Studio MAX. The place where I am learning this has MAX 9 installed, so any examples I show will be from MAX 9. While I am not new to 3D, I am fairly new to modeling. Most of my experience has been with prosumer type applications. MAX is the tool the big boys use, and also the tool used by Meshbox designers.
One program I use a lot is e-on software’s Vue 6 Infinite. It has a wonderful hierarchical selection and grouping method. How do you select objects easily in MAX?
I asked some experienced users over on Renderosity, and they explained.
1. Go to the default tool bar.
2. Click the Select Objects by Name Icon.
3. Go ahead and make your selections.
Multiple selections didn’t make sense to me, so of course I asked someone else!
To select multiple objects and have them selected in the viewport, hold the SHIFT key down while make selections in the Select by Name Dialog.
